Dental Insurance - AIA Dental Panel

Smile Design Dental Practice collaborates with AIA as part of the AIA Dental Panel, enabling us to deliver dental services to AIA clients.

We offer a comprehensive range of services tailored to your needs and preferences, with AIA dental coverage available as an AIA Dental Panel clinic.

At Smile Design Dental Practice, we treat patients the way we want our loved ones to be treated. We understand our patients’ anxiety, fear of uncertainty and pain. Every patient is unique. That means we take the time to listen to and understand our patients’ concerns, needs, and wants.

What to prepare for the first visit?

As a new patient to our clinic, we require verification of your AIA dental coverage card and NRIC for registration purposes.

We value your time. Your first appointment will last approximately 40-60 minutes. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time for registration, allowing the doctor to attend to you on time.

As an AIA Dental Panel clinic, we offer convenience to our AIA clients with direct billing. No cash payments are required for dental services covered under the plan.

Please remember to bring along the following documents:

  • Identity Card / Birth Certificate / Passport / Work Permit / Driving License (Mandatory)
  • Latest dental records (X-rays / photographs / CT scan) if available
  • A list of medications you are currently taking
  • Indication of any allergies
  • CHAS / PG cards or Personal or Dental Insurance cards (if applicable)

What is the first visit like?

We believe that being detailed in every examination and explanation will help alleviate any potential doubts you may have. During your first visit, we will allocate ample time to listen to your concerns and address your expectations.

We examine tooth by tooth in detail. Photographs of your teeth and gums are taken with the intra-oral camera to help you understand your oral condition.

If necessary, we will take X-rays of your teeth to ensure that there are no hidden dental issues. After the examination, our doctor will share the clinical findings with you and discuss your treatment options, the time required, and the treatment fees involved, taking into consideration your needs and priorities.

As an AIA Dental Panel clinic, the fees of the dental services stated in the policy will be billed directly to AIA, allowing you to enjoy cashless dental treatments.

Treatment fees that are not covered by the AIA policy will be payable by patients. You will be informed of the treatment procedures and fees involved. We will only carry out the treatments upon your approval.

How do we work?

During the consultation, photographs will be taken using an intraoral camera or a microscope. X-rays may be taken if necessary. This information is vital for our dentists to customise a treatment plan to address your dental issues and concerns.

After the first visit, every patient will receive a treatment plan, along with dental photographs and X-rays. It is for easy reference and discussion with your family and loved ones, as needed. You may refer to and keep track of your treatment progress with the treatment plan on hand.

During subsequent visits, we will schedule sufficient time as needed for each treatment.

Comprehensive range of dental services

While you may be enjoying our dental services, you may wish to bring your little ones or your grandma along to experience our dental care. At Smile Design Dental Practice, we offer a comprehensive range of dental services that enable us to serve patients from a tender age to the elderly in our community.

Safety is our Priority

We understand the importance of safety and hygiene; therefore, we prioritise them. We make sure that we adhere to the high standards of sterilisation.

X-ray with digital sensor

The traditional X-ray film requires much higher radiation exposure. Not only that, but there is also a higher tendency for either under- or overexposure of the films, resulting in inconsistent film quality.  We offered X-rays taken with a digital sensor. This not only speeds up the X-ray taking process, but it also reduces exposure to radiation by more than 90%.

Use of Rubber Dam during procedures

The rubber dam acts as a physical barrier by isolating the operative area that the dentist is working on from the rest of the patient’s mouth. This helps protect the tongue, throat, and airway during dental procedures, preventing patients from ingesting foreign substances.

The rubber dam also creates a clean and dry operating area. Our patient’s lips, cheeks, and tongue are being retracted and protected, allowing for treatment of the tooth without contamination from blood or saliva.

The rubber dam is placed over a patient’s mouth, with a small clamp attached to the tooth alongside the edge of the gums, exposing only the tooth being worked on.

One or more holes may be created to allow our dentist to work on multiple teeth simultaneously. For instance, we can work on multiple dental fillings by isolating a few teeth. This rubber dam is stretched and held in position with a U-shaped metal or plastic frame.

Sterilization  of Instruments

In the healthcare industry, the sterilization process is the utmost guardian of the success of any treatments. In Smile Design Dental Practice, we place a high emphasis on our entire sterilization process and infection control. The sterilization process consists of rinsing the used instruments and soaking them in medical-grade cleaning solution before proceeding to a round of thorough scrubbing and cleaning. These instruments are cleaned, dried, and then placed into individual sterilisation pouches, which are sent into the autoclave to begin the high-temperature sterilisation process.

Through our stringent and meticulous system, we ensure the sterilization process is carried out in the proper regime, to the highest level of sanitation, for your peace of mind.
